Read by Cheiro
Lord Kitchener
A reading later invoked in discussions of a sharply marked fate line and an untimely end.
What's actually documented
Cheiro wrote that Kitchener's fate line pointed to death by water in his sixty-sixth year, and that he told him so directly. Kitchener died in June 1916, aged 65, when HMS Hampshire struck a mine and sank off Orkney. His body was never recovered.
Another claim from Cheiro's own writing, made public only after Kitchener's death — impossible to verify independently, and one of the stories that made Cheiro's reputation.
