Read by Cheiro
W. T. Stead
A sitting Cheiro described in detail in his own memoirs, including a warning about travel by sea.
What's actually documented
This is the most-cited of Cheiro's claims. He wrote that Stead's hand showed danger from water, and that he warned him specifically against the month of April 1912. Stead sailed anyway, on the Titanic's maiden voyage, and did not survive. Fellow passengers later said Stead mentioned a London psychic's warning at dinner during the crossing.
“So don't travel by water then if you can help it. Especially beware of the month of April 1912.”
Cheiro, recounting his warning to Stead, in his own memoirs
Written down by Cheiro after the fact — a striking story, and one this reading can't independently verify.
